Seasons greetings from everyone at yoga torquay. Its been an amazing time for Alice and I: watching the classes steadily grow and getting to know the new students & teachers who’ve been visiting the studio each week. Best of all, who knew that Torquay was such a cool town? I had no idea. We love it here! My favourite time is in the evening when I walk down Parkhill Road to the studio and look across at the beautiful views of the whole bay - the lights in the harbour and the glorious bricolage of Victorian, meets Georgian meets contemporary cool chic architecture.

A massive thank you to everyone that came to our opening evening and kirtan celebration. We were totally blown away - by the amazing turnout and also everyone’s enthusiasm and positive energy. We were expecting around 20 people at the most and counted nearly 50 in the end. Fortunately, we had plenty of samosas to go around. It was a great night and Barry did an amazing job of leading the kirtan. We hope that he will return to the studio in 2019 for another kirtan soon.

We’ve been tweaking our schedule of classes and learning about which times work best for everyone. So there may be a few minor changes to the timetable next year. After the autumn's hugely successful, beginner's Ashtanga Course, the lovely Sally Holmes will be running another Ashtanga course in the new year starting on the 7th January. The course is an excellent foundation if you want to learn this powerful method of yoga from the ground up.

We’ve got an amazing selection of workshops booked for next year as I mentioned in my last blog post. I can confirm that we’ll also be hosting a Vinyasa Krama workshop with Steve Brandon on the 23rd March. Some of you may know Steve already who is a very well respected teacher in the lineage of Sri Krishnamacharya and Srivatsa Ramaswami. I highly recommend this workshop. Booking info will be posted on the workshops page shortly.

I’m also currently working on bringing another very special guest teacher to the studio for a weekend of workshops at the end of the summer. I can't say much more than that at the moment but am very excited and will be shouting it from the (harbour) rooftops once I've got the dates confirmed.

I'm about to teach our last class of 2018 this evening and then the studio will be closed to the public until 3rd January. I will be teaching our first class of 2019 on Thursday 3rd January: Hatha Yoga - 6:15 - 7:45pm. As is my annual post-xmas custom - classes next term will be focusing on yoga detox practices, energising & strength-building practices as well as learning headstand from the ground up - ideal for those who've always wanted to learn headstand in a safe, supportive and comprehensive way. (If you already know how to do a headstand then are always plenty of fun transitions and variations we can work on.)

Thats all for now. I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.
Alice and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
